Applications are invited for the post of Consultant in Haematology with an interest in Blood & Marrow Transplantation and Cellular Therapy.

The South Wales Blood and Marrow Transplant (SWBMT) Programme is a BSCH Level 4 centre incorporating clinical, collection and processing facilities on site. Adult, TYA and Paediatric services are provided on the University Hospital of Wales site and an adult autologous service at Singleton Hospital, Swansea. The catchment area accounts for 77% of the Welsh population and spans 6 of 7 Welsh Health Boards, encompassing the Haematology Cancer Site Group. The Programme is JACIE accredited, with immune effector cells included in the latest 2019 re-inspection, and licensed by the HTA for activities pertinent to the EU Tissues and Cells Directive. The Programme has been applauded for its above average survival outcomes as externally benchmarked by the BSBMT.

The SWBMT Programme is an integral part of the Midlands-Wales ATTC, one of only three networks in the UK. We are also an affiliated member of IMPACT with a dedicated BMT research nurse and a very active trials portfolio. We have ongoing scientific collaborations with an increasing portfolio of translational research.

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is recognised as a teaching centre of excellence in a wide range of clinical services.

Although this post is full-time, consideration will be given to applicants who require flexible working arrangements.

Applicants should preferably either be on the Specialist Register or be a Specialist Registrar within six months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT / CESR(CP) at the time of interview.

You will be able to take advantage of the excellent Consultant contract for Wales. The basic salary for this post is £94,638 per annum.

Applicants must ensure they provide the names and contact details of referees covering at least the last three years of their employment/training history in full. In addition, applicants who are currently or have most recently been employed as a substantive Consultant or as a Locum Consultant in post for more than 12 months must also provide the name of their Medical Director as an additional referee.
