Your new company
A construction company with over 20 years' experience in construction, fit outs, refurbishments, maintenance, and minor works are looking for a bubbly, quick learner, and highly driven Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their team. They are wanting to developtheir new team member into a leading QS and will support you in any external qualifications that you believe with help and improve your professional career. They are based in Castleford, but have teams across the country, including Yorkshire. As part of yourrole, you will be focusing on minor projects ranging from a value of £100k to £1.6m with successful bids and tenders coming in thick and fast into the new year.
Your new role
As the Assistant Quantity Surveyor you will be working closely with the Senior QS and reporting into the Commercial Director. There will also be a lot of teamwork between yourself and the Estimating team to widen your skill set. Multitasking is a key skillrequired for this role. Some of the main responsibilities will include -- Onboarding/dealing with sub-contractors
- Prepare and present cost estimations
- Handing the minor works of projects up to a value of £1.6m
- Negotiate tenders
- Manage payments and procurement of costs
- Though the day to day mechanics are the same, these projects you will be working on are very diverse and interesting
- Ability to perform just as well under pressure

What you'll need to succeed
You will need 2 years minimum experience as a trainee/assistant QS who is able to manage their own work load, work collaboratively as a team, use your own initiative and have a voice to share your ideas. They are open to experience from a variety of backgroundsas they have a hands-on approach to proactive training and learning on the job. You need to have a strong work ethic and be able to work in a team and independently.
