**Position**: Construction Tutor

**Location**: Nottingham

**Salary**: 26,500 per annum

**Contract Type**: Full-time - 41 weeks per year

**Reporting to**: Head of Curriculum / Alternative Provision Coordinator

Safe Haven Alternate Provision of Excellence is part of the Safe Haven Support, Care and Education Group and is a dedicated educational centre providing alternative provision for young people who may not thrive in a traditional school environment. We are committed to offering tailored educational experiences that foster both academic and personal development, ensuring every student has the opportunity to succeed.

**Job Overview**

**Key Responsibilities**
- Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality construction lessons tailored to the individual needs and abilities of students.
- Develop and implement engaging, hands-on learning activities that promote practical skills in various construction trades such as carpentry, bricklaying, and plumbing.
- Assess, monitor, and record student progress, providing constructive feedback and support to help them achieve their learning goals.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, encouraging student engagement and participation.
- Collaborate with colleagues and external partners to enhance the curriculum and provide comprehensive support to students.
- Ensure health and safety standards are maintained in all practical activities and workshops.
- Support students in developing employability skills, including teamwork, communication, and problem-solving.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to student reports and assessments as required.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with industry standards and educational practices.

**Qualifications and Experience**
- Relevant qualification in construction or a related field (e.g., NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds).
- Teaching / tutoring qualification or willingness to work towards one.
- Proven experience in the construction industry, with practical skills in multiple trades.
- Experience working with young people, particularly those with diverse and additional needs.
- Strong understanding of health and safety regulations in a construction environment.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to motivate and inspire students.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

**Desirable**
- Previous experience in an educational or alternate provision setting.
- Knowledge of SEN (Special Educational Needs) and experience working with students with SEN.

Pay: £26,500.00 per year

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
