**Job Title**: Complex care support worker

**Location**: Dorridge, Solihull (client’s home)

**Salary**: £14.50 ph

**Hours**: 36 hours per week - waking nights (12 hours per night)

Part time day hours - 25 hours in total per week

**Contract**: Permanent

We are looking for a committed, reliable, and caring individual to provide waking night care/support for a young man (aged 12 years) with complex medical needs within the family home. He has

cerebral palsy (spastic and dyskinetic affecting all four limbs), epilepsy and learning disabilities. He is non-verbal and requires full assistance for his personal care and others to maintain his safety and wellbeing.

He loves/enjoys going outdoors, cartoons and going to the cinema.

You will work alongside his family and professionals to provide high quality care in response to his needs, ensuring his comfort, well-being and quality of life.

Full training and support is given. Previous care experience is essential.

**Summary of Key duties**:

- To provide high standards of personal care in accordance with individual care plans and safety assessment.
- Administration of medication/ feeds.
- Regular checks and continuous monitoring of the client’s safety and wellbeing.
- To develop an excellent working relationship with the client and their family to understand and be responsive to their needs and build positive trusting relationships
- To safely and effectively use of equipment to support his needs eg hoist, profiling bed, wheelchair.
- Demonstrate the initiative and ability to use resources and adapt client environment when necessary to support the client to maximise his wellbeing.
- To communicate effectively and work with others (family, case manager, therapy team) as part of a team and in all aspects of the role.

**Qualifications**:
You will have an interest, motivation, and enthusiasm to develop experience and skills to work with an individual with complex needs. Ideally you will have at least an NVQ level 3 or equivalent or Care Certificate.

**Essential experience required**:

- 12 months or more previous care experience
- Excellent communicator
- Have a caring nature and calm manner/approach.

**Desirable experience, but not essential as full training will be provided in**:

- Working with children with complex medical and care needs
- Airway management
- PEG management
- Manual handling
- First aid
- Medication administration

**Other**:

- PPE is required and provided for working with the client.
- Enhanced DBS certificate - payment for DBS will be covered
- Enrolment onto a Pension scheme
- Paid Annual leave on a pro-rata basis
