WLM has been working in the community in London since 1887. We currently work in Lambeth, Southwark, Westminster and Islington with a focus on PTS (Person-led Transitional Strength-based) Coaching, Hubs & Residential Services, Counselling Services and Criminal Justice Services.

**MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE**

WLM currently provides support to the Ex-Military Community in Lambeth. We also run a service for working people experiencing homelessness throughout the winter and hope to expand this work to run throughout the year.

This key role will coordinate the smooth running of the residential services. The post holder will support people through their journey with WLM providing clear housing support in a strengths based way. Your work will ensure WLM is a place where people can thrive. You will provide a safe environment in which to build confidence in managing housing issues and promote opportunities for positive change.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**

Undertake appropriate key working activities (i.e. referrals/interviews/ booking in etc.) to assess and understand people’s needs.

To lead on resettlement, move-on, and co-ordinate activities as needed.

Develop specialist knowledge in areas defined by your line manager, and act as the team champion in this area, which could include, but is not restricted to: mental well-being, complex trauma, psychological interventions, move on, substance use, domestic abuse, family relational work, and multiple exclusion.

Act as a mentor to students on placement and volunteers providing advice and guidance to support their professional development.

Take a holistic approach to supporting people’s needs, seeking and highlighting opportunities for change at the individual and project/ organisational level.

Develop relationships with others to maximise your ability to influence and seek the best outcomes for residents.

Provide a tailored service to WLM’s residents by undertaking specialist interventions where appropriate, for example liaison and referrals to specialist external bodies.

To develop professionally and to identify opportunities in order to improve the level of service WLM offers.

Utilise knowledge, skills and experience to recognise difficult or challenging situations and use appropriate communication skills to influence and bring about positive change to the person’s behaviour.

Work within relevant Health and Safety guidelines to maximise the safety of both WLM’s residents and teams.

**SERVICE DELIVERY**

To draw on a range of approaches using specialist assessment and personalised support planning tools proportionally when guiding people through the assessment and support planning process.
- To work with people purposefully and with empathy, compassion and creativity using relationships for positive change.
- To produce person centred support plans ensuring that regular reviews are carried out and that support plans are implemented and adequate case records are maintained.
- To assess risk and develop risk management strategies (crises plans) with people and others services delivering mutual support.
- Understand the legal and statutory responsibilities that facilitates effective supported housing delivery and execute these in the best interests of residents.

Previous experience of working in a residential setting.

Previous experience of working with people with complex needs and empowering others to make changes in their lives

The ability to think and reflect critically as well as being tenacious and veritable in improving life outcomes for men and women who have served in the armed forces.

The ability to support a wide range of working age people experiencing homelessness.

The ability to cope with people who may display challenging behavior and to make appropriate decisions, sometimes under pressure.

Awareness of and the ability to develop a range of creative solutions to a given problem.

An ability to personally contribute to service targets and performance indicators.

Good knowledge of a range of support needs and interventions for vulnerable adults.

An understanding of tenure and housing management.
