**The Opportunity**

The internship will be focussed on development of breakthrough instrumentation for automated analysis of biological condensates, by way of designing and integrating mechanical, fluidic, and optical systems into our proprietary discovery platform. The internship is expected to last 6 months, with a view to start in May/June 2024; it represents an excellent opportunity for students who recently graduated with a university degree (or higher), or who are currently already working in the field and wish to gain further work experience in a rapidly developing biotechnology start-up.

**Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to**
- Assist in developing tools for protein and cellular biochemistry using our high throughput discovery platform.
- Concept development and the evolution of detailed design solutions using CAD tools.
- Carry out system component prototyping, testing and validation.
- Collaborate with engineers and scientists to develop software for controlling microfluidic and optical instruments.
- Contribute to the development of tools, libraries, and scripts for instrument development and validation.

**Required qualifications and experience**
- A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics or related fields. Students entering their final year of undergraduate studies would also be considered.
- Experience of mechanical design and a keen interest in product or instrumentation development.
- Enthusiasm for hands-on interaction with physical hardware.
- Problem-solving mindset with an interest in conducting experimental work.
- Experience using 3D CAD tools, ideally Solidworks
- Programming skills in Python, MATLAB, or C++ would be advantageous.
- Ability to organise, analyse, and deliver information in a concise, accurate, and professional manner; strong written and oral communication skills; excellent data management skills.
- An interest in cutting-edge science and a high degree of integrity and team orientation; a can-do motivating attitude.
