Sheet Metal Worker/fabricator

CAE Ventilation Services Northern have been established for 22 years. We design, manufacture and install Ventilation Ductwork Systems across the UK, with a strong focus on the NW. As a result of organisational growth, and an exceptional order book, we are looking for a reliable and experienced Sheet Metal Worker / Fabricator to join our team.

Reporting to the Director, you will be based from the workshop in Birkenhead on the Wirral, the main purpose of your role will see you carrying out the fabrication / production of ductwork from drawings and descriptions of work. Ensuring that all assemblies are completed on time and in line with delivery schedules whilst complying with the highest quality standards. Good on-site knowledge is desired for this role.

We are extremely busy, therefore there is a need to work overtime to satisfy the needs of the business. You can achieve well above your basic salary.

**Main responsibilities include**:

- Working as an effective fabrication and sheet metal worker and machine operator within an engineering environment.
- Ensuring continuous flow of operations through the Workshop environment in order to support operations of ductwork installations team, achieving fulfilment of sales orders and maintaining organisational financial targets.
- Managing the skillset within the Workshop and efficiently delegate skills where required maximizing profitability on each project.
- Conforming with Company ISO targets and all necessary Health and Safety at Work legal requirements.
- Operating and maintaining the machinery including pressbrake, plasma cutter, lockformer, spot welder and rollers etc safely and as per specifications and in accordance to the RAMS for the safe use of the machinery.
- Creating and maintaining a process whereby the efficiency of the workshop will service our Installation teams and direct supply only customers for their ductwork and fabrication needs.
- Being familiar with all latest controls and software that are used to operate the workshop effectively and efficiently. Training will be provided where appropriate.
- Maintain Housekeeping Daily and as you perform the task in hand, within your own work area and the whole of the workshop.
- Complying with all Health & safety and other procedures as required.
- Completing any other reasonable tasks or requests as required, in order to meet business and departmental needs.

- Be a time served fabricator/sheet metal worker familiar with dimensional marking out, patten & development, with evidence of appropriate college training. (i.e. NVQ’s, City & Guilds)
- Have a good knowledge and previous experience of using plasma cutter & press brake machinery used in the fabrication of ductwork components.
- Have good knowledge of Health and Safety at work. Ongoing training will be offered in this area.
- Be familiar working within a mechanical engineering environment and machinery.
- Have the ability to communicate in a professional but friendly manner working to peers strength and abilities.
- Have good attention to detail with a commitment to ensuring quality & quantity of output.
- Fe flexible, able to work in all areas on their own or part of a team.
