Chichester, United Kingdom 279 University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Are you looking to step into 2024 with a new career? Do you want to make a difference to people’s lives? Do you enjoy working as part of a team?

If so we are looking for individuals with or without experience to work in Day surgery unit and Main theatres at St. Richards Hospital. We will teach you everything you need to know by providing a structure programme in the first few months of starting with us at UHS. However, if you have theatre experience we can develop this knowledge even more. To us, it is more important that you are a caring and kind person with a genuine desire to help and support patients and their families. If this sounds like you, then you already have the skills that make a great Health Care Support Worker.

As a Health Care Support Worker, you will be supporting patients in their journey through the Day Surgery Unit.

You will be given a local theatre induction, a trust induction and access to a bespoke training programme aimed at supporting your development within your first year. Continuing education and professional development are strongly encouraged.

Our Nationally recognised Patient First Improvement system ensures that all members of our staff are actively encouraged to contribute to making improvements in their areas of work.

In return we expect you to be caring and kind, cheerful and friendly, able to follow direct instructions, able to work in a team but also use your own initiative, have good listening and communication skills, willing to learn and ask questions and be well organised.

The Healthcare Support Worker role can also lead to a range of career opportunities. With the right support, those who want to can undertake the necessary training to become our future Nursing Associates and Registered Nurses.

At UHSussex, diversity is our strength, and we want you to feel included to help us always put the Patient First, as shown in our Outstanding for Caring CQC rating. Your uniqueness and experiences will be part of our creative and innovative community where everyone is encouraged to succeed. We have a range of Staff Networks to help break down barriers, and can offer a buddy to help new members settle in.

We’re proud to be a Disability Confident Employer (Level 2) and a Veteran Aware Trust.

We treat our patients and staff with the same compassion and empathy we expect for ourselves. We’re here for them when they need us, and we go above and beyond to meet their needs. This can be seen in our Wellbeing Programme for staff which is extensive and designed to support you when you need it - because we know that to look after others we must first look after ourselves.

As a university trust and a leader in healthcare research, we value learning, teaching and training so that we can be the best that we can be. From the moment you start with us and throughout your career we will help you to grow and develop. We hope that in choosing UHSussex you are choosing a long and happy career where you will be able to see the difference you make and feel valued for all that you do.
