About us:
We seek a highly motivated and collaborative scientist to join our exciting new brain imaging project at a key stage in the evolution of ultra-low field MRI. This global collaboration, led by KCL, entitled UNITY (Ultra-low Field Neuroimaging In the Young) has the potential to make a huge positive impact on access to MRI across the world.

About the role:
The programme, funded by the “Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation” is focused on the development of paediatric neuroimaging in more challenging settings in order to visualise healthy brain development and address the detrimental effects of conditions including maternal anaemia, malnutrition and infection on the baby brain.

The consortium includes collaborators in South Africa, Malawi and numerous low and middle income countries in Africa and Southern Asia as well as specialist neuroimaging centres across Europe and North America (e.g. Cardiff, UCL, Lund, Leiden, Harvard, UBC, Columbia University).

The post holder will be under the guidance of Dr Bourke and part of a broad team of experts in multi modal brain imaging, data modelling and analysis. This team is working in collaboration with Hyperfine, the pioneers of portable, point-of-care brain MRI to improve the acquisition, analysis and delineation of brain pathology. The post holder will be adept in the analysis and visualisation of complex multidimensional datasets, have excellent communication skills and able to work within strict deadlines.

This is a full time post, and you will be offered an a fixed term contract until 31st July 2027.

About you:
Essential criteria

2. Experience of conducting brain imaging experiments (EEG & MR) with clinical populations

3. Experience in the analysis of brain imaging data.

4. Experience of designing and developing tools to help curate and analyse imaging data.

5. Strong grasp of univariate and multivariate statistical analyses

6. Strong programming skills (e.g., Python, r, Bash, Matlab).

7. Familiar with version control systems (e.g., Git) for working collaboratively and managing workflow development

8. Understanding of contemporary computing approaches to process large datasets.

Desirable criteria

1. Knowledge of paediatric neuroimaging - acquisition and analysis.

2. Experience of working within multi-site consortia and networks

3. Experience developing Docker images

4. Knowledge of DevOps practices
