Baker Tom, a well-established bakery in Redruth, Cornwall, is preparing for a significant move to a new bakery in Summer 2024. As a founder-led business, we are in search of a talented Food Technologist with a specific focus on maintaining high-quality standards, including organic principles.

**Food Technologist**

As a key member of our team, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the quality and integrity of our baked goods, particularly in the context of organic production. Join us in delivering exceptional products to our valued customers in the spirit of our founder's vision.

**Quality Assurance**:

- Implement quality control measures to ensure all products meet Baker Tom's high standards.
- Conduct regular sensory evaluations and coordinate with the production team to address any quality issues.

**Health and Safety**
- Implement and enforce health and safety protocols, prioritizing a secure working environment for our team.
- Collaborate with regulatory bodies for inspections and ensure compliance with health and safety standards.

**Food Hygiene**
- Implement and ensure compliance with food safety standards, organic food safety regulations, HACCP principles and SALSA.
- Oversee and enforce strict hygiene and sanitation practices throughout the bakery, including equipment cleaning, personal hygiene, and facility maintenance.

**Recipe Development and Optimization**:

- Collaborate with the founder and production team to develop and refine bread recipes.
- Conduct trials and experiments to optimize existing recipes for consistency and quality.

**Innovation**:

- Stay informed about industry trends and technological advancements in bread baking.
- Propose and lead initiatives for product innovation and development.

**Process Improvement**:

- Evaluate and enhance production processes to increase efficiency without compromising quality.
- Work closely with the production team to troubleshoot any challenges that arise.

**Supplier Collaboration**:

- Collaborate with ingredient suppliers to source high-quality raw materials.
- Conduct regular audits of suppliers to ensure compliance with BakerTom's standards.

**Documentation and Reporting**:

- Maintain detailed records of recipes, experiments, and quality control measures.
- Provide regular reports to the management team on product performance and improvements.

**Qualifications**:
1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field.

2. Proven experience in food product development and formulation.

3. Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and quality assurance.

4. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

5. Ability to work collaboratively in a team and communicate effectively.

6. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

7. Familiarity with industry trends and emerging technologies.

8. Experience in conducting sensory evaluations and consumer testing.

9. Proficient in using relevant software and tools for data analysis.

10. Strong project management skills.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time

**Salary**: £15,000.00-£30,000.00 per year

Expected hours: 20 - 40 per week
