**Role**: Drillers Assistant/Support Operative

**Contract**: Permanent / Immediate Start

**About Us**:
We are a specialist drilling contractor operating a fleet of drilling rigs across the UK, Ireland and Europe from our main base in Alloa, Scotland. Our specialist land drilling operations cover many sectors including geotechnical, environmental, renewables, mining and aggregates.

**Role Purpose**:
This role is nationwide and will involve working with various Lead Driller Operatives within our large fleet of specialist drilling rigs. The primary role of the Drilling Assistant/Support Operative is to support the Lead Driller in rig operation whilst achieving the operational performance targets, safety initiatives and standards whilst conforming to company policies and procedures.

Regular travel throughout the UK is a requirement including periods away from home as well as occasional international travel.

**What you'll be doing**:
As a **DRILLING ASSISTANT/SUPPORT OPERATIVE**, you will have the following accountabilities:

- The drilling assistant/support operative is responsible, under the guidance and direction of the Lead Driller, for assisting in the preparation and loading of drilling and ancillary equipment
- Undertake daily basic maintenance and pre-check functions of equipment
- Assist as requested by the Lead Driller with all tooling and rod tripping operations
- Ensure all necessary equipment is clean, serviceable and readily available when required
- Careful handling of recovered samples including correct presentation and marking
- Maintain support vehicle(s) in a clean, safe condition by servicing in accordance with procedures and at designated frequency
- Maintain drill site, work area and equipment (including drill rig) in a clean hazard free state
- Communicate effectively with all colleagues including Clients in a professional manner at all times
- Contribute as a valued team member and demonstrate commitment to common goals and targets of the Company
- Assist in the recovery and presentation of core sample through safe, cost effective and professional practices in order that Client expectations are met or exceeded.
- The drilling assistant/support operative is responsible for ensuring that all aspects of the duties and tasks outlined within the job description are undertaken in accordance with Company policies, procedures and practices
- Ensure that adequate duty of care is exercised in all aspects of the tasks and duties

**Who we're looking for**:

- Previous experience within a field based position
- Currently holds a relevant valid Construction Skills Certification Scheme card (CSCS)
- Ability to regularly work away from home as well as have a flexible approach to working hours and activities
- Excellent communication skills
- Able to take instruction easily as well as have a willingness to learn
- Ability to interact with others and work as a part of a team
- Knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety requirements in the workplace
- Professional and organised with attention to detail
- To hold a full UK driving licence
- Telescopic Handler Certificate (NPORS/LANTRA)

**The following qualities/experience are desirable**:

- First Aid
- Trailer towing experience
- Previous experience in the construction/ground investigation sector

Pay: £24,000.00-£34,000.00 per year
