We are looking for an enthusiastic electronics Technician (Clinical Technologist) to join our EBME External Section of Medical Physics & Clinical Engineering Dept. This section provides a comprehensive service for medical equipment within the Trust and also provides equipment services to other Trusts and GP Surgeries. Carrying out service and repair of medical equipment across these locations where some will be for contracted sites as part of a Service Level Agreement. Some of these provide treatment/care for mental health patients. Work will also involve undertaking commissioning, calibration, giving technical advice and decommissioning of medical devices. Good communication and organisational skills will be an essential requirement for this role.
The service will be provided over five days per week and the post holder will be expected to demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to negotiate appropriate flexible working hours. There may be a requirement to work some unsocial hours, as part of the work may need to be performed outside normal working hours.
A car and a valid UK driving license are essential to the duties of this post.
The recruitment process following shortlisting, will comprise of a two-stage process on the same day involving Stage A consisting of Q&A’s, followed by Stage B a Practical test. This interview process is normally scheduled 2/3 weeks after closing of the advertisement date.
To be managerially and technically responsible to the EBME External Section Head in the area assigned for all ongoing managerial, administrative and professional matters.
To be professionally accountable for matters that affects the calibration, servicing and maintenance of medical electronic equipment to the Head of Clinical Engineering Dept.
To participate in the full range of work undertaken by the EBME External section, including support on an agreed basis to all Trust areas, Community and external contractual obligations, being responsible on a day-to-day basis for each aspect of the work to the Section Head.
To achieve and maintain a level of expertise which, combined with substantial personal initiative, will enable procedures to be completed without supervision.
To participate in the commissioning, repair and preventative maintenance of complex medical equipment for which the sections carry responsibility, and to ensure that the highest possible standards of safety and of technical work are achieved and maintained.
To participate in laid down work schedules and to assist in maintenance of records of equipment maintenance, repairs, hazards, etc. relating to the technical service, including the implementation of new and revised protocols and standards, such as HS11 Management of Medical Devices Trust Policy, Managing Medical Devices (Jan 2021), Clinical Governance, CQC, Standards for Better Health, etc.
To be available for travel to other hospitals as required.
