**Job Description - Senior Buyer**

**Purpose of the job**

To satisfy Mecmesin customer requirements by proactively procuring direct or indirect materials as required and manage a specific commodity group of suppliers. The job holder will be responsible for ensuring that procedures are adhered to in order to meet Buyer KPI’s and the specific targets of Delivery & Quality Performance. The job holder will also be responsible for assisting with the execution of the short-, medium
- and long-term purchasing strategy. To understand the external and internal environmental factors affecting the commodity and ensure that relevant contracts and SLA’s are in place where appropriate. To utilize Purchasing best practice techniques to achieve company cost, quality, delivery, and continuous improvement targets. To ensure suppliers of the correct caliber are used and audited in-line with departmental QAP’s.

Purchasing and Planning Manager

**Key Accountabilities**
- Responsible for ensuring MRP outputs are actioned daily
- Responsible for the management of all open order items to achieve timely delivery to the Production Plan
- Lead a team of buyers offering strategic guidance and ensuring that production priorities are expedited where necessary
- Maintain relationships with existing suppliers, conduct audits; source new suppliers where applicable to meet price, quality, and delivery targets
- Conduct and develop research to ascertain market trends
- Regularly review Supplier performance to ensure performance targets are met; instigate vendor improvement strategies where necessary
- Identify continuous improvement initiatives
- Evaluate quotations and negotiate terms to make advantageous commercial recommendations
- Review and monitor price variance to ensure impact of any increases are minimized
- Maintain stock levels in accordance with business requirements; assist in managing stock holding by utilizing strategic purchasing techniques
- Regular review of item records to ensure data accuracy on the Microsoft Dynamics AX ERP system
- Review production shortages and provide internal customers with regular updates
- Pro-actively manage issues and resolve in a timely manner
- Contribute towards the achievement of Purchasing objectives & KPI’s once implemented
- Participate in Commercial & Operations team meetings
- Participate in New Product Development projects
- Always provide a professional approach in dealing with internal and external customers
- Ensure adherence to all ISO Purchasing procedures.
- To understand plant load in the short, medium, and long term and ensure that suppliers have suitable capacity is in place
- Responsible for measuring, reviewing, and reporting on purchasing objectives and targets once implemented.
- Pro-actively manage process improvements, including adding processes where gaps are identified
- Regular communication to management, suppliers, and internal customers (as and when required) on supplier improvement initiatives
- Implement and development of cost reduction strategies to support ever increasing customer demands
- Provide monthly analytical reports on supplier cost, quality, and delivery performance to the Purchasing team
- Responsible for improving supplier quality by ensuring supply and implementation of robust Corrective & Preventive Action Report, (CPAR), in the event of any found non-conformances
- To undertake any other relevant tasks as requested by management
- In order to prevent harm to themselves and others, all employees will be responsible and accountable for working within Health & Safety legislation, instructions, procedures and practices as defined by the Company
