**How you'll make a difference**:

You will have a key focus on improving green infrastructure across the council region. Taking responsibility for the coordination of our tree planting projects, you will ensure we make best use of the funding to support our progress towards increasing tree canopy cover within South Gloucestershire.

**What will you be doing?**
- You will provide expert technical advice and support, taking the lead in developing a strategic approach and management of new South Gloucestershire Council tree planting.
- You will undertake site assessments for the suitability of new stock/assets.
- Providing specialist guidance, you will put forward plans for best practice as well as ordering all tree stock, sourcing the best suitable assets.
- You will develop tree planting initiatives, involving colleagues, residents, park groups and schools and deliver tree planting and tree care activities, through working with volunteers, the wider community and partner organisations.
- In the role you will be required to prepare and present reports and technical briefing papers, that support proposed asset/service provision solutions.
- It will be your responsibility to deliver small and medium sized projects on a regular basis, organising contractors where necessary, to ensure best value is achieved and all trees planted are provided with watering and maintenance visits.

**What we need from you**:

- Ideally you will have a level 4 for Arboriculture or alternatively, relevant experience is required.
- You must be able to demonstrate a practical and theoretical knowledge of Arboriculture and tree planting, diseases, legislation, codes of practice and have a track record of delivering similar projects.
- Effective communication skills are essential as you will liaise with stakeholders, influence suppliers and communicate with voluntary groups and members of the public. It is important that you understand the importance on the wider community.
- Working on your own initiative and being adaptable is very important for this role.
