**Apprentice Machining Technician**

Our Prototype Build department is a multi-skilled group, turning concepts into physical reality. With a fully equipped machine shop, 3D additive printing, electrical build facilities, fabrication / welding services and a prototype assembly hall, the department can manufacture unique, early prototypes through to low volume production runs.

Over 42 months, you will follow the Level 3 Machining Technician advanced apprenticeship, involving college day release whilst being supported in the workplace by an experienced engineering team as well as our network of apprentices and graduates.

Over this period, you will develop the knowledge and skills to perform the following:

- Machining of various materials to supplied engineering drawings and tolerances.
- Use of manual lathes, milling machines, saws, surface grinders and other traditional machines.
- Basic CNC programming & machining skills for efficient component manufacture.
- Material handling including goods in/out, identification, quality checks and inspection measurements.
- Maintaining a safe and clean working environment.
- Input to continuous improvement and problem resolution activities.

**Entry Requirements**:
Applicants should be able to demonstrate:

- Experience of traditional manual lathes, milling machines, cutting machines, and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing. CNC programming and CAD/CAM experience.
- Preferably be studying towards, or have achieved, a BTEC qualification, NVQ, or T-level in a manufacturing or engineering discipline.
- An interest in vehicles, including working of vehicles at work and an appreciation of latest vehicle technologies.
- Ability to follow Health & Safety guidelines.
- UK driving licence.

You should also be a UK/EU/EEA national or have lived and have had a right to work in the UK for 3 years or more.

**Assessment process**:
If you meet our eligibility criteria, we will then ask you to complete some aptitude tests, with successful applicants then progressing to a short assessment day where we can meet each other. This will take place at our MIRA Technology Institute in April, so your diary must be available for this.
