Chemotherapy Associate Practitioner

Applications are invited from experienced Associate Practitioners to join our dedicated multi-disciplinary chemotherapy team and work in our purpose built 20 chair Chemotherapy Day Unit at Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford.

You will be an experienced associate practitioners and will have experience of caring for patients with cancer in an oncology/haematology care setting. You will be proficient in cannulation and venepuncture and familiar with central venous access devices.

Predominantly your role will be to care for patients receiving chemotherapy and supportive care. In addition you will also be responsible for supervising and training the healthcare support workers.

Above all we are looking for experienced Health Care Support Workers with passion and drive who are committed to maintaining and improving care for patients and their families who are undergoing chemotherapy/SACT.

You will work as part of the Oncology team, delivering care that focuses on the direct needs of the patient. You will work autonomously within the clearly defined boundaries of your role and carry out specific clinical tasks and responsibilities that may cross professional demarcations of care.

As a member of the chemotherapy team you will assist the registered nurses in delivering a caring and effective, patient focused service in keeping with the aims, objectives and standards of the Trust.

Assist with the maintenance of a safe care environment including preparing and clearing up rooms and equipment with particular reference to infection control and safe working environment for patients, visitors and staff

Under the guidance from qualified staff provide, sensitive and appropriate clinical care to meet individuals’ needs and respecting personal dignity and beliefs.

Ensure information is handled and exchanged with care, accuracy and sensitivity, maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
