**Apprentice Machine Operator**

**£16,224 Per Annum**

Swarm is assisting Hi-Span in their search for a Level 2 Engineering Operative Apprentice. Hi-Span is one of the UK's leading suppliers of Cold Rolled Products to the construction industry, with more than 55 years of experience. They offer a wide range of Purlins, Rails, Channels, and Eaves Beams that are designed to fit different situations. Hi-Span provides a comprehensive selection of sections, and they can also manufacture customised sections to meet the specific requirements of their clients.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- To operate machinery producing metal products for the steel construction industry
- Ensure tolerances and parameters are met to satisfy quality and output
- Ensure production timings are met/exceeded
- Follow company rules and adhere to procedures and Health and Safety standards
- Work as part of a team to produce orders on time and within customer's expectations/quality requirements
- Ensure correct marking up of component parts
- Crane Operative
- Material Bundling

**Working Week**

Monday to Thursday working hours are from 8am to 4:30pm, Friday working hours are from 8am to 3.30pm, 39 hours per week.

**Desired Qualities and Requirements**
- Ability to work effectively and use own initiative
- Good communication skills
- Hardworking and eager to learn
- Some knowledge of Health & Safety Legislation (preferred but not essential)

**Things to consider**:

- Lifting / Manual Handling will be involved within this role

**Training and more Information**:
The level 2 Engineering Operative Standard includes spending 4 weeks at the Swarm REAGIT centre in Norwich. During these 20 days of intensive training, the apprentice will develop skills in:

- Health and Safety and workshop behaviours
- Hand tools and traditional engineering techniques
- Working with and understanding technical documentation

After the 4 weeks, the apprentice will then attend the site 1 day per week for 16 weeks to complete the technical element of the apprenticeship.
