The post holder will provide a comprehensive, quality and confidential secretarial/administrative service. The Personal Assistant will be expected to organise their workload and co-ordinate their activities to ensure that an efficient service is provided. The post holder will be capable of the full secretarial/administrative function. It is essential that the post holder can exercise initiative suitable to the role.

Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (MCHFT) provides good quality, safe and effective healthcare to the people of Cheshire and beyond. The Trust, which manages Leighton Hospital in Crewe, Victoria Infirmary in Northwich, and Elmhurst Intermediate Care Centre in Winsford, was established as an NHS Trust in April 1991 and became a Foundation Trust in April 2008.

We employ almost 5,000 members of staff, provide around 540 hospital beds, with a range of services including accident and emergency, maternity, outpatients, therapies, and children's health.

The Trust is also part of Central Cheshire Integrated Care Partnership (CCICP), a unique local health partnership that provides a range of community services for people across South Cheshire and Vale Royal.

During the Coronavirus pandemic, the Trust was recognised nationally for its ‘Be Safe Be EquiPPEd’ campaign, which aimed to make the Trust as safe as possible for staff and patients, through supporting the correct use of PPE. The results in the 2020 national NHS Staff Survey showed improvements in all elements of the safety culture theme, with 92% of respondents feeling their role made a difference to our patients. We were also recognised nationally for our workforce health and wellbeing initiatives.

- Provide a comprehensive secretarial/administrative service, including but not limited to the typing and distribution of minutes, documents and reports, recording information and filing, ensuring that all information and documentation is produced to expected standards of performance, and according to agreed timescales.
- Proactively manage diary commitments by liaising with others, internally and externally, ensuring that all the required preparation is accurate and available, and that the senior management team/others are briefed on any difficulties, problems or issues,
- Build and maintain constructive relationships with others in order to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of services to patients,
- Exercise own judgement, based on acquired knowledge and experience, as to when to deal with queries personally and when to contact the Managers, and with what degree of urgency, according to guidelines agreed by the senior management team,
- Be fully conversant with all required electronic systems for correspondence, recording, retrieval and maintenance of information, including obtaining information using the Internet and Intranet,
- Represent the department at meetings to produce minutes, document notes and action plans, distributing information as required,
- Prioritise work, and take appropriate steps to manage incoming and outgoing requests for action and/or information, including follow up, according to agreed timescales,
- Prioritise and take appropriate action concerning the managerial function of the department within guidelines agreed by the senior management team,
- Prepare, collate and provide data, information and statistics to support the managerial function of the department, including both staff and patient information by liaising with other managerial/administrative staff, and according to the needs of the department,
- Participate in the co-ordination, organisation and production of duty rotas, including on-call duty rotas, where appropriate,
- Prepare and produce documentation, handbooks, and any relevant information packs, by liaising with others to ensure accuracy, consistency and completeness of information.
- Support the Breast Care Unit in audit activity as necessary including managing databases, obtaining information and preparing questionnaires and in the presentation of the results
