About the role
With over 7 million documents dating from the 13th to the 21st century, the size and breadth of the Royal Archives offer a truly unique working environment.
Reporting to the Archives Curator, you'll join the significant and wide-ranging archival project for material relating to Queen Elizabeth II and The Duke of Edinburgh.
From checking incoming records to assisting with the review of material, you’ll take on a variety of cataloguing activities.
You'll create accession records for the newly transferred material and catalogue it on the Royal Archives Management System.
You'll also assist with the review of material, helping to identify any conservation, handling and storage requirements, in order to preserve the documents for the future.
And working on this large-scale project, you’ll have plenty of opportunity to grow your skills, supported and guided by our talented Royal Archives team.

About you
You’ll have experience of cataloguing archives and will be looking to develop your career in this area further.
You can catalogue archives in line with international standards and are aware of the access requirements for contemporary archival material.
Highly organised, you’ll be able to work well independently, managing your own workload and deadlines.
You’ll also enjoy working as part of a small and dedicated team, motivated by the exceptional results you deliver.
With good writing skills, your focus on accuracy will be evident in everything that you do.
You’ll also be an effective communicator, able to quickly build positive relationships with colleagues across the Royal Archives and the Royal Collection.
