**Garden Centre Houseplant Supervisor | London, NW5 | Office Based | 9am to 6pm from March to October, and 9am to 5pm from November to February, 1 hour for lunch | £25,000 to £28,000 per annum depending on experience**

The Boma Garden Centre is an oasis within the urban surroundings of Islip Road, Kentish Town.

Over the years, The Boma has evolved into the most enjoyable and attractive independent garden centre in North London, offering diverse plants, pots and garden essentials.

It's more than the team that runs the place. It's also about the community, which plays an integral part in our daily life. We are a close-knit team of plant lovers who come from a variety of backgrounds including Horticulture, design, and maintenance. Wehave a great reputation within the houseplant community in London, so it is vital that you are friendly and welcoming to customers.

You will be working closely with your line manager assisting with houseplant ordering and with their input you will have the freedom to create inspiring displays with new stock each week.

You will ensure plants are kept in good condition and watered appropriately in all weather conditions and place plants in displays so they are less likely to be damaged.

You will be required to help your line manager with planning and subsequently rearranging the shop with the help of other members of the team, to accommodate Christmas and seasonal displays such as spring and summer bulbs.

This is a creative role, and you will be able to assist customers with advice on what plants will suit the conditions they have, plant care and indoor pests and diseases. Knowledge of outdoor plants is also preferred.

Please note that we work in a two-week cycle, working alternate weekends with one day off during the week. You will be expected to work some bank holidays split fairly between the garden centre team.

**Essential requirements**
- Significant plant knowledge
- Exceptional customer service attitude and the willingness to serve customers as the main priority
- The ability and willingness to multi-task for all garden centre tasks including selling to clients and using the EPOS till system
- Hard-working and helpful
- A positive, happy and flexible attitude
- The ability to work and share in a team environment
- Desire to constantly learn more about your profession and to improve yourself
- The ability to do physical work including manual handling of plants and related products

**Skills & experience required**
- Relevant horticultural qualifications and/or previous experience working in a garden centre or houseplant shop
- The ability to identify plants and recommend plants for the appropriate growing conditions
- Knowledge of how to care for and maintain indoor plants and products relating to plants (for both outdoor and indoor plants)

**What will your role as an Houseplant Supervisor look like?**
- All garden centre related tasks from watering plants, unpacking products, displaying plants and products, caring, maintaining, and displaying plants and products, keeping the shop clean and tidy, occasional till work and helping to select houseplants andpots for online orders
- Assisting other staff in other areas of the garden centre when required
- Working within our EPOS till system back office
- Helping when required with the information and upload of indoor items into our online shop
