**JOB PURPOSE**

Kingston GP Chambers (KGPC) is the GP Federation for Kingston borough, comprising membership of all 19 GP practices in Kingston. Our role is to support the delivery of
Primary Care to patients across Kingston, by providing both clinical services directly to patients and back-office support to our member practices.

KGPC has been awarded the contract to run a pilot project aimed at the early identification of patients at risk of developing liver cancer. The pilot will run for an initial period of 6 months with potential for a further 6 month extension.

The role of the Healthcare Assistant within the project will be varied and will aim to provide both clinical and administrative support. The role will be crucial in the early identification of patients with liver cancer. This is an important project, which will involve a collaborative approach across many key stakeholders including patients, practices, Kingston Hospital,
St George’s mobile scanning unit and the local cancer network.

**Responsibilities**:

- To work with the GP practices and other primary care professionals to identify and manage a caseload of patients.
- To provide co-ordination and navigation through the liver screening pathway
- Carry out phlebotomy duties and ensure that patient specimens are appropriately labelled processed
- Aid patients to manage their needs through answering queries, making, and managing appointments
- Screen patients for liver inflammation utilising fibro scanning (full training will be provided)
- Conduct analysis of fibro scan results
- Be main point of liaison with practices and patients concerning patient care
- Train practice staff in the use of fibroscanning

**Person Specification**:

- Demonstratable experience of working as Healthcare Assistant
- Working knowledge of EMIS
- Experience of performing phlebotomy
- Previous experience of working with patients of liver cancer and use of fibroscanning equipment would be highly desirable but not essential.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent, Fixed term contract

**Salary**: From £13.00 per hour
