**The Leeds United Foundation**

**Job Title: Safeguarding Officer**

**Salary**:£10,500**

**Hours: 15 hrs a week - flexible**

**Location: Onsite: Leeds United Foundation, Elland Road, Leeds LS11 0ES**

**Offsite: various locations**

**Reports to: Head of Safeguarding & EDI (HOS)**

**Purpose**:
The Leeds United Foundation recognises the importance of high standards of safety and welfare of all participants who come within the care of the Foundation. This includes children, young people and adults at risk who participate in The Leeds United Foundation projects and have established policies and procedures to deliver its Safeguarding aims.

**Description**
- Support the Head of Safeguarding & EDI and Designated Safeguarding Officer to deliver a high standard of safeguarding within the Foundation.
- Work to ensure the Foundation complies and excels in delivering the Premier League Community Foundation Safeguarding Standards
- Embed a healthy safeguarding & equality culture within the Foundation
- Organise safeguarding training as per training matrix

**About the Organisation**

The Leeds United Foundation is a non-profit, sports charity that exists to deliver targeted, high-quality programmes that have a real and measurable positive impact on the relationship between the club, its fans and the community.

**Main areas of responsibility**:

- Supporting the embedding of good practice by championing the safeguarding and EDI policies and procedures.
- Co-ordinating the dissemination of policy, procedures and resources throughout the Foundation including but not limited to staff, participants, parents and guardians.
- Help to ensure that safeguarding standards are met, maintained and exceeded within the Foundation.
- Supporting the Quality assurance of Foundation safeguarding practices
- Coordinating staff, participant and parent safeguarding and EDI workshops.
- Living the values of the Foundation and championing our culture to help deliver the vision of the Foundation.
- A member of the Foundation safeguarding team, working with partners on safeguarding delivery

**Person specification**:
**Qualifications**

**Essential**
- DBS check with children’s barred list check
- FA Safeguarding children certificate

**Desirable**
- FA Welfare Officer Certificate
- Mental Health First Aider
- Safeguarding Level 2 qualification or equivalent

**Experience**

**Essential**
- 1yrs minimum safeguarding experience in a sports, social care or education environment

**Desirable**

**Knowledge, Skills & Characteristics**

- Possesses a demonstrable knowledge of safeguarding best practice
- Possesses a strong awareness of equality, diversity and inclusion
- IT literate

**Skills**
- Communicates using a variety of methods and using an age-appropriate vocabulary
- Builds positive relationships with the staff and all stakeholders
- Demonstrates outstanding listening, verbal and written communication skills
- Able to assess and quality assure safeguarding practices
- Demonstrate an understanding of the importance of confidentiality and the needs and wishes of individuals, families and carers as appropriate
- Ability to work and engage with children and young people

- Demands high standards and has an attention to detail
- Open minded, innovative and willing to explore new ideas/concepts

- Able to deliver training in safeguarding and EDI
