This post offers specialist experience in acute medicine combined with substantial education and teaching opportunities. The objective is to give the fellow protected time and mentorship to pursue teaching and a variety of educational projects. 50% of this post will be focused on clinical service provision and 50% on education.

Acute Medicine is a large department with a great number of trainees rotating through every year. Trainees include Foundation Year 1 and 2 doctors, Internal Medicine Trainees, Acute Care Common Stem trainees and GP trainees. The medical education fellow would support these trainees by organising the daily AMU teaching programme, organising and facilitating PACES teaching, providing workplace-based assessments and feedback to trainees on the acute medical take, and delivering all clinical teaching within the department.

Internal Medicine training (IMT) is the 3 year Training Programme for trainees wishing to proceed to higher specialty training in the physicianly specialties. The medical education fellow would support the local IMT lead to deliver the programme changes required to deliver this new curriculum and to support high quality IMT training at UCLH

It has world class support services including critical care, imaging, nuclear medicine and pathology.

Clinical

The education fellow will work with 5 clinical research fellows (CRF) in Acute Medicine with supervision by an Acute Medicine Consultant and as part of the Acute Medicine multidisciplinary team in all clinical areas. The clinical rota follows a rolling 6-week pattern which includes 3 weeks in Acute Medicine (with OOH enhancements) and 3 weeks in Medical Education.

Education

Developing and supporting the AMU local teaching programme and engaging in all aspects of postgraduate education within Acute Medicine

Developing as a simulation facilitator and attending regular IMT simulation training days as faculty.

Developing model of clinic exposure as mandated by the IMT curriculum
