Clinical Duties There will be minor variations in different posts in different hospitals but this list is aimed at covering the majority of duties: Supervise, monitor and assist the Foundation House Officer (FY1) in the day-to-day management of inpatients in posts with an attached FY1. Liaise between nurses, FY1, FY2, patients, relatives and senior medical staff. Attend and participate in ward rounds as timetabled Attend outpatient clinics. Take part in rostered emergency work.

Dictate discharge summaries. Study for higher examination and maintain continued professional development (if appropriate). Attend weekly educational and multidisciplinary sessions. Undertake audit at various times (if appropriate).

Attend post mortem demonstrations - when required. Teach medical students as directed. Attend induction in each hospital or new department. Comply with all local policies including dress code, annual and study leave All posts participate in out of hours for hospital at night.

Shift patterns and pay will be dependent upon the specialty you are allocated to at the time.

As this post is not recognised as a 'training post', full registration with the GMC with a licence to practise is required, and if the appointee does not hold right of residence in the UK sponsorship will be required.
