**Background**

FARE Scotland is looking to enhance the nursery experience for families in Glasgow East - offering a fresh outlook on Early Learning & Childcare, while also solving some of the key issues that parents/families face in modern life. FARE Scotland plan to open our first site at Bannatyne House in
August 2021, creating an exciting setting for children and providing real value for families. At FARE
Scotland, we’re lucky enough to have an exceptional community facility, which the organisation wishes to utilise as a childcare nursery. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled and experienced person to develop and work within a childcare nursery as a social enterprise subsidiary of FARE
Scotland. We’re looking for the right, ambitious, individual to be part of our new nursery.

**Job Purpose**

The main purpose of the post is to enable FARE Scotland to develop and deliver high-quality nursery services for children aged 2-5 years and their families through the development and operation of children’s indoor and outdoor nurseries in and around FARE’s head office in Easterhouse. Through the delivery of these services FARE will also provide training and development opportunities in childcare for local people disadvantaged in the labour market.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- To effectively deliver activities/programmes ensuring that the individual needs and interests of the children in the setting are met.
- To keep records of your key children’s development and learning journeys to share with parent’s carers, and other key adults in the child’s life.
- To support all staff and work well within a team.
- To develop and maintain strong partnerships and communication with parents/carers to facilitate daily care and development needs.
- To work with all nursery policies and procedures and in line with current legislation.

- To ensure that the indoor and outdoor environment is high quality in order to meet the needs of all children in the nursery.
- To work as part of a larger team to ensure all essential day to day tasks are completed in line with the nursery demands i: e hygiene standards and room preparation.
- To understand all safeguarding procedures, and to make the Designated Safeguarding Lead aware of any concerns in relation to the safeguarding of our children, families, or colleagues.
- To demonstrate effective written and verbal communication with all stakeholders of the nursery and wider community including parents, professionals and colleagues.
- To create effective plans for children and families based on clear outcomes, ensuring a high degree of responsiveness to stakeholders and service users.
- To ensure the safety, security and well-being of all children, staff and visitors at all times.

**Person Specification**

Qualifications and Training
- You will need:
Full and relevant SVQ/HNC level 3 qualification or equivalent in early years and childcare
- You will also need to be, or be willing to be, registered with the Scottish Social Services Council

(SSSC).
- You will require to be approved for membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG)

Scheme run by Disclosure Scotland.

**Skills Essential Desirable**

Policy and practice relating to ‘Getting it Right for Every Child’ andCurriculum for Excellence’.

Sound knowledge of Child Development
- Good knowledge of the childcare sector
- Knowledge of sector statutory organisations
- **Experience Essential Desirable**

Experience of working in collaboration with colleagues
- Knowledge of the inspection process across Scotland
- Promoting parent partnerships engaging them in their child’s learning
- Working with other agencies to support children’s development.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
