**About the role**
This is an exciting new role within our Meter Field Services team, working within a high performing team, paving the way for the future of smart metering.
Delivering an unrivalled customer experience is critical to the success in our business ambition to be the national leader within the water industry. This role requires an individual who is demonstrably passionate about providing the best possible levels of customer service.
You will work as part of a team to deliver a field-based meter survey and investigation service, in a way which supports and informs our Smart Meter programme, identifying suitable properties for a smart meter to be installed.
We’ll provide you with the opportunity and support to learn and develop skills which will enable you to succeed within the role.
As a Smart Meter Surveyor you will:
- Complete an onsite survey for properties selected for a smart meter.
- Prepare the site to ensure suitability for a smart meter.
- Accurately record and document your findings on an electronic device.
- Manage your day to achieve productivity & quality targets.
- Provide excellent customer service including answering questions about the benefits of smart metering.
- Use our systems to complete daily tasks and to communicate with colleagues.
- Be provided with a company vehicle for business use (you take your vehicle home each day).
- Be provided with a uniform and full PPE.
- Be responsible for ensuring safety standards are consistently delivered.
This role has been defined as a safety or security critical role, and as a condition of a formal offer of employment, you’ll be required to undergo a drug and alcohol test.
Prospective employees and agency workers in defined safety and security critical roles will be required to undertake a drug and alcohol test after the job offer has been made. This will be prior to, or within four weeks of their start date.
Prospective employees and agency workers who fail a pre-employment urine drug screen will have their sample analysed by the Company appointed laboratory as a matter of course. Failing a pre-employment drugs or alcohol test may lead to the job offer being revoked
**About you**
Our Smart Meter Surveyors are the face of Northumbrian Water, so we are looking for you to bring the ability to engage and communicate with people, along with a passion and enthusiasm to make a difference to our customers.
You will have a positive and flexible approach to ensure deadlines are met within a busy day and you will ensure that all activities are carried out in a safe manner for yourself, colleagues and customers, in line with our Health and Safety policies.
You will be comfortable working alone for most of your day with mínimal supervision and you will be happy working outside in all conditions. You will be able to meet the physical demands of this role as our meter surveyors can walk considerable distances each day. You will also be able to bend, twist, kneel and crouch as you will lift many meter covers each day
You will have proven experience of using your initiative, with a high level of attention to detail, as you will be recording job completion details using an electronic device.
As a company van is provided, you must have a have a full manual UK driving licence and be willing to undertake a DBS check as an entry to premises card is required for this role.
