Manual Machinist

We are seeking a skilled Manual Miller to operate Vertical and Centre Lathes in our client’s manufacturing facility. As a Manual Miller, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining Vertical and Centre Lathes to produce precision components according to engineering drawings and specifications.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Set up and prepare Vertical and Centre Lathes for machining operations.
- Interpret engineering drawings and work instructions to determine machining requirements.
- Select appropriate cutting tools and fixtures for each job.
- Safely operate Vertical and Centre Lathes to perform facing, boring, drilling, and threading operations.
- Monitor machine performance and make necessary adjustments to ensure quality and accuracy of machined parts.
- Inspect finished components for dimensional accuracy and surface quality using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues that may arise during the machining process.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on machines to ensure optimal performance and prevent breakdowns.
- Provide manual machine training to colleagues

**Qualifications**
- Proven experience operating Vertical and Centre Lathes.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
- Strong knowledge of machining techniques, cutting tools, and materials.
- Ability to perform precision machining operations with attention to detail.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
- Familiarity with CNC machining is a plus.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Willingness to adhere to safety guidelines and protocols at all times.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: £27,000.00-£34,000.00 per year
