**Afterschool Leader**
Job Title: Deputy Childcare Manager
Job Location: LCCC 1-5 Doric Way, Larne
Hours: 25 hours per week
Responsible to: Childcare Manager
Larne Community Care Centre is a multipurpose facility that operates various projects for the community including a Daycare, pre-school, after school club, breakfast club and youth club.
**Purpose of the Position**
Reporting to the Childcare Manager, the Afterschool Leader will be responsible for supporting and overseeing the day to day operations of the Afterschool Program, providing direction for the afterschool team to ensure there is a safe, caring and welcoming environment for children and their families, that provides high quality service and care for young children.
They will be responsible for maintaining all quality standards as regulated by the relevant statutory agencies associated with childcare, and for planning, organising, implementing and controlling the necessary resources to ensure that afterschool services are promoted and run efficiently and effectively.
**Scope**
The Afterschool Leader will be responsible for providing activities for children that will encourage them to reach their full potential and encourage parental involvement. They must ensure the development and safety of these children in accordance with relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
The Afterschool Leader will ensure that staff are respectful of children and parents, and that equipment and facilities are clean, safe and well maintained. The successful person must have a good working knowledge of The Minimum Standards of Daycare for Children under 12 years and implementation guidance.
The Afterschool Leader will conduct regular staff supervisions and support staffs development and training. They will work closely with the manager and deputy to ensure all minimum standards are achieved throughout the daily running of the service. They should be able to identify the physical, emotional, intellectual and social development needs of all children and offer support and opportunities for all children to reach their full potential.
**Key Tasks**
**Project Delivery**
- To provide line management, support and supervision to staff/volunteers/trainees
- To ensure the effective running of the Afterschool department
- Support the manager in the continuous improvement, development and provision of high quality innovative projects for children
- Plan, organise and lead activities designed to promote holistic development, through the use of free play, arts and crafts, music, storytelling, and outings.
- To provide monthly updates to the childcare manager
- Plan and supervise outings, visits by guests, or other activities.
- Take part in and help with the organisation of LCCC special events and fundraising activities
**Performance Standards**
- Maintain a good standard of working practice
- Lead, develop and support employees through supervisions, annual appraisals and meetings.
**Record Keeping**
- The keeping of up to date records as stipulated by social services and LCCC
- To ensure systems of observation are followed and that record-keeping is kept up to date
- To contribute to the effective recording of all health and safety documentation
- To comply with GDPR legislation
**Safety & Maintenance**
- To ensure that the centre is a safe environment for children, staff and others.
- Act as Fire safety warden
- Any other relevant duties commensurate with the role and responsibilities of
the post as required by Senior Staff or the Board

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974) and does require a criminal records check with Access NI and the Disclosure Barring Service. Applicants must be prepared to disclose any convictions they may have and any orders which have been made against them.
