**JOB DESCRIPTION**

**Post title**: Head of Centre

**Reporting to**:Directors

**Salary/Pay range**:Starting at £28,000 per annum

**Contract type**: Permanent Full Time

**Hours of work**:Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week, term time only (39 weeks). 8.30am - 4.00pm

**Main purpose of the job**
- To maintain the shared values and standards of WRAP.
- Support the Directors in evaluation and maintaining quality standards.
- In line with WRAP’s expectations, uphold high standards and model and share best practice.
- To promote the strengths of WRAP in dealing with schools, students, parents and stakeholders..
- To maintain a purposeful, orderly, supportive and safe environment.
- To undertake flexibly any other reasonable requests made by the Directors, in line with the duties of the Head of Centre.

**Working with referring schools and outside agencies**
- Building and maintaining effective working relationships with partner schools, including attending relevant meetings.
- Induction of new students.
- Collecting and disseminating academic, pastoral and welfare information regarding students in order to facilitate smooth transition.
- Using in-house monitoring systems and maintain records of safeguarding, progress, behaviour and attendance for students and share reports regularly with stakeholders.

**Work with students, teaching staff and support staff**
- To work on a day-to-day basis in supporting teaching staff in dealing with pastoral, behavioural and academic issues arising with students.
- To lead, manage and support Directors in the development of the curriculum and the process of recruitment of new staff.
- To lead and manage behaviour support staff and direct to appropriate roles on a daily basis.
- To manage teaching staff, ensuring learning plans and requisition plans are adhered to.
- Signpost students to the appropriate levels of support inside and outside of WRAP, utilising a multi-agency approach.
- To take overall responsibility for teaching rooms and maintain fabrics of the rooms and report maintenance issues to Directors.
- Identify ways in which the achievements of students can be rewarded and celebrated.
- To oversee staff duties and manage the duty rota on a daily basis by directing staff to appropriate duty points.
- To have responsibility for students in monitoring and intervening when necessary, to improve their behaviour and attendance.
- To work with students to build their confidence and self-esteem.
- To build effective professional relationships with parents / carers as required, to resolve issues regarding student welfare and progress, including telephone calls and meeting with parents when appropriate.
- To ensure effective communication with members of staff on the work undertaken.

**Work with Directors**
- To have a clear and advanced knowledge of WRAP’s policies, practice and procedures when dealing with students, carers, staff and other agencies.
- To seek opportunities for career development and suggest CPD opportunities
- To display analytical and judgemental skills to interpret situations and find solutions when dealing with students, carers, staff, and other agencies.
- To exercise evidence of highly developed caring and advocacy skills when representing WRAP in contact with all stakeholders.
- To show evidence of excellent communication skills when exploring issues that may be complex or contentious to a range of audiences including students, carers, staff and other agencies.
- To show organisational skill when meeting deadlines and the demands of the role
- To be understanding of the emotional demands of stakeholders when engaging in conflict resolution
- To work with other agencies and prepare and contribute to child protection meetings and support programmes.
- To support the Directors in the administration of child protection documentation.
- To support the Directors in all other reasonable duties commensurate to the role.

**Salary**: £28,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
