Buyer

**We are recruiting on behalf of our Client for a Buyer with experience in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods sector.**

The purpose of this role is to identify, manage and develop supplier relationships effectively - including but not limited to cost control, new product development, quality assurance, order generation and placement, on time delivery, control of stock levels,and to ensure efficient production in a fast-moving environment.

**Main responsibilities will include**:

- Identifying the right suppliers for the right products - agreeing product range, negotiating cost, credit terms, delivery schedules in line with agreed production specifications and technical policies
- Managing stock levels within the order picking area, production, and 3rd part storage facilities to ensure manufacturing priorities are met
- Collaboration with planners to forecast volume demand in line with the production plan
- Identify any stock shortages, agree remedial action, and communicate through appropriate plan amendment
- Working closely with the suppliers, planners, and production to ensure optimum levels of raw material are available to achieve plan
- Management of procurement team of 3 people
- Analysing sales data, looking for sales trends and forecast customer demand in line with factory plans
- Ensuring the most cost-effective product is purchased and available for production whilst minimising changeovers and production runs

**Base working hours are Monday - Friday, 07:00 - 16:00, and one Saturday in three, 07:00 - 12:00.**

The role will require additional flexibility in working hours to meet the needs of the business.

**Essential Skills**:

- Experience buying fresh foods
- Experience with FMCC
- IT literate (proficient in the use of MS Office and experience of ERP)
- Good communication and management of people skills
- Ability to develop good working relationships with managers in other areas of the business to deliver the common goals of the business in terms of profitability and provision of agreed service levels to customers
- Willingness to embrace change and develop people within hour team
- Is used to and capable of working in a cold environment
- Team player who builds good working relationships at all levels
- Ability to work to own initiative, demonstrates good judgement and makes sound timely decisions
- A strong commercial understanding of the business

**Desired Skills**:

- Experience of working within the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCC) sector
- Good understanding and Manufacturing processes and procedures
- A background in fresh chilled food is preferred but not essential as full training well be provided
- Experience managing a small team
- Stock control experience is desirable
