Land Operative

Holker Estates is seeking to appoint a dedicated and hard-working individual to assist with the maintenance, upkeep, and security of the busy diverse rural estate in South Cumbria.

The role is to deliver land management operations across the estate, with day to day tasks ranging from, but not limited to, dry-stone walling, fencing, parkland management, grass and hedgerow management, knapsack spraying, tree planting, road, track and footpath repairs, litter picking and winter gritting.

To carry out security patrols, with a day-to-day awareness, being the “eyes and ears of the estate”. With responsibility for monitoring of private water systems and maintenance and servicing of equipment and machinery.

There will be opportunity to work with and support the wider land maintenance and property services teams in property repairs, gardening, firewood and chainsaw operations and event management.
- practically experienced in agricultural land and property.

- effective communicator with good interpersonal skills
- experienced in conservation work, to protect and improve habitats and landscapes
- organised, resource problem solver with a pro-active attitude
- able to use machinery and equipment, with relevant certificates
- a driver with a full clean UK driving licence
