**Medical Receptionist Job Advert**
This will be a permanent position after probationary period.
Reception/computer experience and the ability to speak Welsh are advantageous.
**Driving licence essential.**
Hours: 16 - 37.5 hours per week, flexible to suit the appointed person’s preference. Shift pattern will be; Monday to Friday - between 8am and 6:30pm.
**Salary**: £20,319 pro rota per annum.
**POST SUMMARY**:
- To assist clinical staff in the provision of the service to patients by facilitating access in an organised, efficient and caring manner
- To provide efficient and organised administrative support in reception in line with practice requirements and guidelines
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Provide reception desk duties as required and keeping reception area tidy
- Deal with any telephone enquiries in a respectful and friendly manner, ensuring correct details are recorded and forwarded to relevant personnel
- Maintain an appointments system for doctors and nurses
- Relay messages and home visits to appropriate Staff/GPs
- Provide repeat prescriptions on request (under 65s no longer can telephone for repeats)
- Maintain an accurate filing system and ensure notes are in good order, repair if necessary
- Be aware of and maintain confidentiality
Be aware of and maintain all Health & Safety Regulations and all IT and Security Policies
- Typing referral letters for all doctors
- Type Minutes, as requested, for the Staff Meetings
- Chaperone for Nurses as required
- Contributing in producing and updating protocols/policies
- To undertake scanning of documents as and when necessary
- Entering on computer patients who have no attended an appointment with Dr/Nurse
- Any other duties as required by the Practice Manager
**Experience**
**Essential**
Experience of dealing with the public/patients
Excellent communication skills
Keyboard and computer skills
An understanding, acceptance and adherence to the need for strict confidentiality.
Ability to use own judgement, resourcefulness, and common sense
Ability to work as part of an integrated multi skilled team
Pleasant and articulate
Flexibility of working hours/able to work at the desired times
Car driver/clean licence
**Desirable**
Welsh Speaking
Previous reception experience
Willingness to undertake further training
Ability to work without direct supervision and determine own workload priorities
Able to work under pressure
Experience of Primary Care
