Responsibilities & Duties:
As a labourer your role would be to carry out the duties & tasks as directed by the General Foreman or the Vessel Master.
This may be working in our yard, on a worksite or aboard barges/pontoons.

Duties & tasks to include preparing the plant, machinery and material for work daily in order that the company can achieve the tasks required by its clients. Additionally carrying out all aspects of routine maintenance, including but not limited to, painting, greasing, checking of oils, refuelling, topping up of oils.

When working on the floating plant, additional duties include, assisting with the vessels crew during mooring operations, loading and unloading project cargo and ancillary equipment, relaying important information, maintaining ship equipment, assisting with watchkeeping duties, and ensuring the general upkeep of the vessel.

Key Tasks:

- Greasing and cleaning engine room machinery, bilges & deck equipment
- Slinging, Rigging & Signaller Operations
- Using various Mooring Lines/Ropes, knots and radio and navigational equipment
- Assisting during emergencies and effectively using safety equipment.
- Performing general maintenance duties like chipping, grinding, painting, sweeping and mopping
- Ensuring vessels are maintained to the Masters standards
- Ensuring Vessel Decks and passageways are kept clear and ready for work; housekeeping
- Ensuring watchkeeping and deck work is carried out to at least MCA standard
- Have awareness of weather and tide conditions at all times and understand how these affect vessel and operations
- Work efficiently to Foreman, Master & client instructions and as part of the team
- Ensuring verbal instructions, method statements and risk assessments are understood and followed; IF NOT, ASK
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, management, and clients
- Undertaking ad hoc tasks given to you, to the best of your ability and experience
- Ensuring all vessel maintenance checks are carried out as and when required
- Adhering to site specific health, safety and environmental protocols at all times
- Being aware of all aspects and impacts as a result of work activities and taking personal responsibility
- Ensuring appropriate and provided PPE is worn at all times
- Ensuring excellent time keeping with consideration for the nature of tidal working
- Flexibility in working longer hours to meet operational needs, potentially at short notice

Skills / Experience / Attributes:

- Full Driving License & own transport
- Fitness: Being of a general level of fitness whereby you can perform basic, general maintenance duties like chipping paint, grinding, painting & sweeping, carrying equipment, traversing the yard & vessels, climbing ladders using Lifesaving Equipment
- Excellent communication skills & good personal administration and time-keeping
- Flexibility in working longer hours to meet operational needs, often at short notice, with consideration for the tidal nature of marine work

The position is 40 hours per week with Overtime as required.

Rates of pay negotiable.

**Salary**: £15,000.00-£25,000.00 per year
