The role sits within the Pay, Policy and Reward team within the HR Function. The team supports the departmental objectives set out in the Outcome Delivery Plan (ODP) as DIT seeks to attract and retain great people in the UK and Overseas with the right skills, experience and capability to deliver an ambitious trade and investment agenda. We work closely with stakeholders to meet the changing needs of our people and DIT as an employer by:

- Making sure our advice and services are user friendly and easy to access
- Providing clear, concise HR policies
- Directly supporting our wider approach to employee engagement

Our key objective is to support the organisation and our people. We aim to ensure our service provides timely and accurate information for users, supporting DIT to deliver departmental priorities.

The role will support the Policy Team with administrative tasks, including handling policy queries on a wide variety of topics including Performance Development, Maternity and Conflicts of Interest. The role will also provide critical support on designing policy intranet pages and reviewing policies in line with user needs. There will be opportunities to develop policies and contribute to a more creative approach to policymaking and assist the pay team when required.

The role holder will work to the HEO People Policy Advisor, supporting policy returns/papers, updating key stakeholders of progress and developments, utilising best practice and effective communication styles.

**Job description**

The role will include:

- Answering a range of sometimes complex policy queries, providing the escalation support for the HR Advisory Service and ad-hoc HRBP support, as well as exploring ongoing upskilling opportunities
- Designing policy intranet pages to deliver key messages in a user-friendly and accessible way
- Supporting the development of new and existing people policies for use across the organisation, based on user feedback from stakeholders across DIT
- Working with the Policy Team to consider policy making in a more creative way, e.g. video bites, animations, etc
- Drafting business returns/papers on key policy areas, working with colleagues across HR and the business to obtain data and submit returns/papers in a timely fashion
- Assisting the Pay team with ad hoc queries.

**Hybrid working**

Please be aware that this role can only be worked from within the UK and not overseas.

Informal hybrid working arrangements will be available as agreed with the vacancy manager and in line with the requirements of the role.

Most DIT employees will be working a hybrid pattern, spending 2-3 days a week (pro rata) in an office, on average. If your office location is London, you will be eligible to receive London weighting.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills - an ability to draft clear, concise and impactful policies, briefings and intranet pages
- Demonstrated ability to work with a range of stakeholders.
