Concept Technologist

**Overview of role**:
**Location: Bradford**
We are Speedibake, a Proud Yorkshire Bakery. Established in 1984 we are one of the market leaders in the supply of frozen baked goods and are part of Associated British Foods plc, which is a £17.0bn FTSE 100 company.- This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Concept Technologist to join Speedibake.**Key Accountabilities**:

- Fully conversant with our health and safety operating practices
- Responsible for NPD customer account management for given accounts.
- Responsible for managing projects with gates 1-3 (concept stages) for given customers
- Responsible for critical path generation, concept development within budget - including recipe development, submission forms, making kitchen samples, attending customer submissions
- Responsible for costing generation, ensuring projects are delivered in full to the desired cost
- Work closely with Senior packaging technologist to ensure packaging strategies are considered in NPD projects and packaging in line with customer requirements are delivered on time
- Work cross functionally to ensure the key stakeholders from supply chain, operations, technical, sales and engineering are aware of new concepts and have inputted into the process at each stage.
- Support the Concept Manger with customer visits preparation and execution deputing where necessary
- Highlight, when necessary, issues with project timelines mean a project is behind or likely to miss critical path both internally and externally
- Lead customer meetings and presentations in line with NPD procedures
- Generation and supply of all NPD documentation and paperwork as required by customer or internal NPD process
- Develop pro-active customer engagement programs for customer accounts consisting of (not exhaustive): Market Safari activity, Seasonal customer presentations, Development of product ranges to market trends rather than individual customer brief, Work flow and launch pattern windows, Market review, competitor and trend insights
- Develop a close working relationship with your sales team counterpart for your given accounts, to ensure a joined up approach towards customer strategy, account growth and “Innovation with Purpose”
- Work pro-actively with procurement to ensure the introduction of new suppliers and raw materials are managed accordingly to the strategy and adhere to the NPD process
- Responsible for working within the test bakery ensuring health & safety and hygiene standards are maintained at all times.
- Highlight and areas of continuous improvement of NPD processes and systems to drive efficiency and cost saving initiatives
- Be forward thinking and be instrumental in delivering the NPD Strategy**The Right Person**:

- Degree in Food Science / Technology (not a requirement but preferred)
- 1 or more years experience in the food industry in a similar Concept / NPD role preferred
- Bakery background preferred but not essential
