Assistant Technical Officer

We are looking for a highly motivated, adaptable and conscientious full time (37.5 hours) Pharmacy Assistant Technical Officer to help support the development of our services, on a one year fixed term contract.
The post will be based at Bronglais General Hospital, which is a busy Hospital with approximately 170 beds. The specialties provided here include acute medical and surgical, aseptics, HDU and ICU, Stroke Rehabilitation, Orthopaedics and Paediatrics.
The successful applicant will be working within a team of other Assistant Technical Officers working to Standard Operating Procedures. They will assist in the controlling of pharmaceutical stock by the receipt and storage of pharmaceuticals, includes use of ladders and trolleys, the handling of heavy fluid boxes, gas cylinders, cytotoxic products and raw materials. Identifying any discrepancies and dealing with them.
They will be accurately supplying stock pharmaceuticals to wards, departments and clinics by providing a drug replenishment service to wards within the hospital using a top-up system. Visits to wards may occasionally involve some patient contact but will mainly involve nursing staff and other healthcare professionals. They will be delivering pharmaceutical goods and other supplies to wards, departments and community hospitals, which will involve the use of trolleys, lifting and movement of heavy items, transportation of secure and refrigerated items.
Applicants are also expected to partake in a Bank Holiday rota.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Our 11,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services for around 384,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales. We do this in partnership with our three local authorities and public, private and third sector colleagues, including our volunteers, through:
**Four main hospitals**: Bronglais General in Aberystwyth, Glangwili General in Carmarthen, Prince Philip in Llanelli and Withybush General in Haverfordwest;
**Seven community hospitals**: Amman Valley and Llandovery in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron, Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire Hospital Health and Social Care Resource Centre in Pembrokeshire;
48 general practices (four of which are managed practices), 47 dental practices (including three orthodontic), 99 community pharmacies, 44 general ophthalmic practices (43 providing Eye Health Examination Wales and 34 low vision services) and 17 domiciliary only providers and 11 health centres;
Numerous locations providing mental health and learning disabilities services;
Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.
