Head of Commercial - Education

**Position Overview**

We are recruiting for an exciting opportunity for a Head of Commercial for our Education sector. You will provide a world class service to deliver commercial insight on business performance to influence the decision making process, drive profitable growth and support the delivery of the organisation's long term strategic goals. the location of the role is flexible/hybrid working but with the necessity to travel to facilities across the UK as and when required.

**Job Purpose**
- Responsible for commercial matters in the Education sector within the Communities Business Unit.
- Manage a small team of commercial managers across the UK.
- To focus on PFI contract performance and risk mitigation.
- Work closely with the Director of Education to provide the drive, analysis, processes and information to deliver the budgeted financial performance.
- To ensure exemplary commercial stewardship of the portfolio of contracts; developing, maintaining and controlling commercial processes commensurate with Mitie management systems and corporate governance in conjunction with the Commercial Director
- Oversee the commercial management team and contractual reporting obligations to ensure contractual compliance.
- Strive to develop and secure opportunities and mitigate risks.
- Ensure business processes and practice are conducted in accordance with Mitie corporate policies and in a way which protects and enhances the performance, professionalism, reputation and image of the company
- To provide support to the operational teams ensuring contract compliance across the portfolio of contracts

**Responsibilities**
- Be the Contractual Expert for the Communities Education Sector, providing timely information, analysis, advice and support to the operational leadership team.
- Manage the commercial management team to provide support to operational account teams to ensure understanding of the key requirements, including those which affect financial recovery and risk and the commercial / financial analyses of the contract
- Develop and support the Education commercial team.
- Provide support to identify and price variations (capital works and services) and enforce the requisite contractual processes to achieve compliance with delegated authorities and ensure proper payment
- Optimise income, income recovery and profitability to achieve or exceed budgeted financial performance. Regularly monitor income and instigate action to ensure prompt payment
- Identify all significant risks and opportunities. Prioritising activities to secure opportunities and mitigate risks, keep business fully informed and aware
- Establish and maintain good responsive communication with the customer and any other end clients.
- Create, maintain and enforce policies, procedures and governance to manage commercial risk.
- Take a lead role in contract negotiations in conjunction with Education Operational SLT and Commercial Director
- Provide support to the Commercial Director and Head of Commercial for Disputes for the negotiation and resolution of commercial claims and disputes
- Support and perform any ad-hoc duties at the discretion of the Commercial Director
- Liaison with all contractual parties to administer any contract agreements.
- Ensure Contract Data Repository is maintained with all relevant contract information including variations
- Continually liaise with operational teams to ensure a through exchange of relevant information so that all chargeable works are identified.
- Carrying out training and regular reviews to ensure operational teams are aware of the key contract processes and obligations

- Experience of facilities management in an Education environment with a particular focus on hard services
