**Are you passionate about Adult Acute and Oncology / Cancer SLT services and excited to join SLT Services at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in the vibrant city of Cambridge?**

**An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 to join our dynamic Adult Acute SLT team. Half of this post will involve working as part of the CUH Adult Acute Team on the Acute Wards, including Respiratory, Surgery, General Medicine, Neurosciences and Medicine of the Elderly, to provide highly specialist swallow and communication assessment and rehab, including instrumental assessments, such as Videofluoroscopy and FEES.**

**The other half of this post would involve developing a new SLT Outpatient Neuro-oncology service, as part of new investment from the Cancer Alliance. For this part of the role, you would work closely with the Neurosurgery and Neuro-oncology MDT, consisting of Neurosurgeons, Specialist Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapists, taking a lead in developing a highly specialist SLT service provision for Neuro-oncology patients, pre and post operatively.**

**Working on Tuesdays and Thursdays is required to ensure participation in MDT and AHP meetings. You will be supported by the Adult Acute SLT Clinical Lead.**

**Experience of service development, developing and delivering training, student supervision and close MDT working is essential. Sound clinical skills and extensive experience, including highly specialist dysphagia skills and complex caseload management in the acute setting are also required.**

Main duties of the job

**Support and work alongside other members of the SLT Adult Acute Team to ensure delivery of the highest possible standard of service. Act as a resource for other Therapists in the area of expertise.**

**Take a lead in developing a new SLT Outpatient Neuro-oncology service alongside the wider MDT.**

**Collaborate with the MDT to ensure effective two way communication and mutual support.**

**Take a lead for planning, coordinating, delivering and evaluating the enhanced SLT service to the Adult Acute Wards and Outpatient Neuro-oncology service on a day-to-day basis alongside the Clinical Team Lead.**

**Evaluate the SLT Service delivery to aid identification and implementation of service improvement projects alongside the Clinical Team Lead.**

**Be an integral part of the highly specialised Neurosurgical and Neuro-oncology MDT as well as the various ward MDTs, including Consultants, Nurses, Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists working with them to improve services and outcomes.**

**Develop a long term vision for the Outpatient Neuro-oncology SLT service delivery and to shape the service in a way that reflects that vision with support from the Clinical Team Lead.**

**Provide cover for the Senior Specialist / Clinical Team Lead in service and team coordination, operational management and representation at relevant forums as required.**

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

SLT Services at Addenbrooke’s are managed by a Professional Head of SLT and structured into four clinical areas, each led by a Clinical Lead SLT. These are ENT / Head and Neck, Adult Acute, Acute Paediatrics and Neonates and Acute Stroke / Neuro / Trauma Rehab. In addition, the Service is commissioned by NHS England to deliver specialised AAC services to the region.
