Senior Dog Kennel Assistant

Are you a senior kennel/dog assistant or experienced stable hand? We require full or part-time staff with extensive kennel or stables experience (ideally Level 2 or 3 in Animal Care/Management however we value professional experience more as we offer formal qualifications on-site once you have been with us 12-18 months). If you don't have any paid experience then we advertise separately for dog assistants.

You will be responsible for cleaning kennels and all buildings on-site (kitchens, grooming room, etc) and also feeding, walking dogs and helping with basic care as required (bathing/brushing, etc). You will be supervising others in this senior role including apprentices and also our kickstart programme supporting young people entering the industry.

Working fast and efficiently yet maintaining a high-quality cleaning standard with good attention to the smallest detail, and reliability for 7 am start in all weathers. Dog care is predominantely an external job so its working in cold and wet conditions, and we are open 365 days a year

It is essential you have worked with animals (stables etc) and are safe and able to interpret animal behaviour and assess risk when dealing with dogs in the areas. Please be aware that the location is rural and no public transport is nearby. If you cannot drive you would need to use a bicycle or train to Dinas Powys then complete the journey by bicycle.

The wage is negotiable and depends on experience. Full and Part-time considered, please note the majority of the cleaning happens at 7am-11am so early start is needed. Weekends/school holidays are our busiest days so this availability is essential.
