**Salary**:£24,408 per annum rising to £25,108 per annum after 1 year and successful probation
**Contract**:Permanent, Full time - 8:30pm - 7:30am with 4 nights one week and 3 nights the next week

**About the Service/Department**
The Blackfen Recovery House(BRH) located in Blackfen, London Borough of Bexley. The service will provide a safe, homely alternative to psychiatric inpatient admission, and will be staffed with an integrated team of Hestia and Visiting Oxleas staff. The service aims to prevent unnecessary inpatient admission, reduce distress and anxiety, and enhance wellbeing.

The service will be available 24 hours a day, 7 days per week with the aim of a safe discharge home. The service will be on Blackfen Road. The service will provide extended assessment, advice and guidance to service users and provide a safe, therapeutic environment.

The Psychiatric Decision Unit protocol will form the basis of the service specification for this service which will be developed in partnership between Hestia, OXLEAS and service users. Referrals to the service will be made by clinicians based within the Queen Elizabeth Mental Health Liaison Team, Bromley Home Treatment Team, Bromley Mental Health Liaison Team, Bexley Home Treatment Team and Greenwich Home Treatment Team.

**About the role**
To support clients in relation to any out of hours referral and intake to the crisis house, ensuring that they are inducted into the building and that their immediate physical and emotional needs are met.

Some other main responsibilities of the role include:

- To manage any emergencies out of hours and to report to Greenwich Crisis House Management in a timely manner
- To provide excellent quality support and interventions to clients experiencing or likely to experience a mental health crisis as an alternative to inpatient admission during night time hours
- Develop co-produced group activities, peer support networks and other community-based approaches to empowering service users to achieve their goals and aspirations and to encourage service users to access these opportunities.
- Actively monitor the health, wellbeing, safety and security of the service and its users ensuring all concerns are followed up promptly and in line with procedures
- Participate in the core work of the service, providing support to colleagues, carrying out tasks allocated by the service manager and using initiative to identify and deal with additional tasks as they arise.
- Ensure that administration is done in good time; that detailed, concise and accurate records are created contemporaneously and that confidentiality is appropriately maintained.
- To collect rents and service charges, and manage arrears proactively by following policy, protocol and procedure to support residents to maintain their tenancy and develop independent living skills by paying service charges & rent.
- Carry out duties, in line with organisational policies and procedures.
- To work flexibly as part of the team to ensure service coverage and that contractual obligations are met, including being part of the senior team duty rota.

**About you**
- Experience of working with people who have people who have experienced mental health and / or dual diagnosis issues in a paid or voluntary role.
- The ability to learn quickly, gather information and make defensible decisions.
- The ability to receive, process and accurately record detailed information, sharing it with others, as appropriate and within the framework of confidentiality.
- The ability to work with people who may display challenging behaviour and to defuse potentially difficult situations.
Having a solution focused approach and the capacity to work constructively and collaboratively towards problem solving.
- Being optimistic about the possibility of change and the clients’ capacity to change.
- A calm, non-judgemental and anti-discriminatory approach.
- The ability to work within a structured, busy and sometimes pressured environment.
- Willingness to work unsociable hours. Early, late, overnight and weekend duties as part of a team rota required.
- Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding issues and ability to address them appropriately.
- Ability to work flexibly, specifically out of hours working during the evening, weekends / bank holidays
