Are you experienced working with children and families and looking to make a difference to services within the Fife area?

Are you looking for an opportunity which offers hybrid working, based from home and the opportunity to visit children and families Fife wide?

Job Purpose:
To provide advice, support and services to children, young people and their families in accordance with the aims and objectives of the service. (Specifics of Service attached as applicable).

Key Responsibilities:

- To work with children, young people and their families, on a one to one or group basis, using a variety of interventions, to identify needs and to achieve positive outcomes.
- To work in partnership with parents/carers to empower them and to enable them to achieve better outcomes for their children.
- To work cooperatively with children's services, health agencies and other community based services, to provide the most effective service for children, young people and families.
- To take responsibility for the more complex cases/situations presenting within the service.
- To contribute to Service development.

Education/Knowledge
- Qualification mandatory for practice, where applicable (NB: For staff having sole and direct access to children, young people and vulnerable adults, there is likely to be a future requirement for an NVQ3 level qualification)
- Awareness of factors impacting on and issues facing vulnerable children and young people and families (e. g. disadvantage, poverty, disability).
- Knowledge of child/young people development
- Knowledge of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- Knowledge of legislation relevant to service aims
- A relevant qualification, at NVQ level 4/5, may meet the above knowledge requirements-see programme content for details.

Experience
- Experience of direct work with children, young people and families.

Skills/Abilities
- Ability to listen to and communicate effectively with children and young people
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to supervise work of others
- Ability to accurately and clearly record case notes deploying the necessary standard of writing and IT skills.
- Ability to write reports and produce other management information
- Ability to analyse and resolve problems occurring in relation to service users and or staff supervised.

Objectives of Service

The service is designed to support children and their families, Fife

wide, to become more resilient and able to cope with life events where

substance use has impacted on the family. The following are objectives

set by the ADP/Fife Child and Education Service

Outcomes for Children and Young People
- Improvement in ability to meet children's wellbeing needs and

safety
- Improvement in engagement in treatment with specialist alcohol

and drug services to support recovery (i.e. Addiction Services,

FASS, DAPL, FIRST etc.)
- Improvement in physical health, mental health and emotional

wellbeing
- Improvement in connections to local groups/wider networks of

support Outcomes for Children and Young People
- Improvement in children and young people experiencing a safe

and more stable home environment
- Improvement in children and young people making safer and

positive choices
- Improvement in children and young people's mental health and

emotional wellbeing
- Improvement in young people engagement in support services including specialist services leading to a reduction in substance use

Outcomes for Families
- Improvement in safety and risks factors within the family related

to public protection issues e.g. domestic abuse, child protection,

offending, housing and financial difficulties
- Improvement in relationships within the family and wider family

network
- Improvement in the home environment including home

conditions
- Improvement in family engagement with services leading to

sustainable change and a reduction referral to statutory services

Initial Specific Responsibilities

Once a case has been allocated the workers will be expected to carry

out the following tasks
- Carry out an initial visit to the family to carry out an initial

assessment of the situation and establish areas for work. The

initial visit will take place with the referring agency
- The project workers then carry out an Family Star with the

parents/carers to identify 3 key areas based around the

wellbeing indicators that specifically need address for them to

move forward positively as a family.
- The project worker will constantly assess and analyse the family

functioning whilst assessing risk to the children within the family

alongside designing a package of support for them which is

reviewed every 12 weeks.
- Attend NHS Clinical Addictions team meetings and develop

positive relationships with Adult Substance Misuse serv
