We are currently recruiting for a temporary PR and Marketing Assistant for a centrally based Oxford University Department. The position is set to commence as soon as possible and will be part-time for an initial duration of 12 weeks.
- Duties:
**Press and Public Relations**
- Coordinate activities in regards to media interviews with members of staff and assist with media filming and photography opportunities.
- Coordinate logistics for exhibition press views, press briefings, evening receptions, public events, and VIP visits as required by liaising with photographers, providing information to and welcoming guests. Assist the Press Officer with media requests for information about the collections, exhibitions, acquisitions, events and other news items as needed with press materials, catalogues, and collections-research e.g. image requests and requests for basic data such as object information.
- **Press Office, Marketing & General Administration**
- Maintain the Press Office’s library of images for the using the Department's photo library, commissioning new photography from the in-house studio and external photographers.
- Adapt digital images for different uses and formats using Adobe Photoshop.
- Essential Skills
- Demonstrable experience in a similar position in a museum or similar environment.
- Previous experience working with the media.
- Educated to at least A level standard or equivalent in English and Mathematics.
- Excellent writing skills with ability to write clear prose for press releases
- Ability to meet different deadlines such as journalists’ image requests, mailings, issuing press releases.
- Good IT skills with a proficiency in MS Office, Photoshop, Adobe Creative Suite and ability to learn new skills in desktop publishing, image management, databases.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with members of the press, members of the public, VIPs, staff across the Museums, volunteers.
- Excellent organisation skills and attention to detail, with ability to administrate for committees and meetings.
- General administrative skills and ability to maintain files and archives and carry out financial procedures such as paying invoices, processing expense claims.
- Ability to maintain a calm, friendly, polite and sensible manner when dealing with difficult situations.
- To have a commitment to working to high standards and show initiative to introduce those where a need has been identified.
- Ability to work as part of a small team
- Hard working and, with a “can-do” attitude to their work and problem solving
