Job description

Teach West London is the Teaching School Hub serving Ealing, Harrow, Hillingdon and Hounslow. Its vision is to empower schools to achieve the highest standards for students through training educators in effective classroom practice and school leadership. It has consciously developed a model of local partnership working and aimed to build capacity within partner schools. In the 18 months that it has been in operation it has been highly successful in engaging with schools across the four boroughs (as well extending its reach nationally in some areas). More than 330 schools currently make use of its networks overall either as part of the Early Careers Teacher programme and/or the National Professional Qualifications both of which it delivers in partnership with UCL. It also delivers some stand-alone CPD training in core curriculum areas and SEN.

In September 2023, Teach West London will offer its own Appropriate Body Service to schools. The Appropriate Body is the organisation that quality assures the statutory teacher induction. This includes ensuring that Early Career Teachers (ECTs) receive their statutory entitlements and that the support, assessment and guidance procedures in place are fair and appropriate. The successful growth of Teach West London gives opportunity for a newly created role of Head of Appropriate Body Services. This role demands a strong vision, an entrepreneurial drive and an infectious energy for the significant challenge of setting up and leading the Appropriate Body Service at Teach West London.

The successful post-holder will create a business plan to define Teach West London Appropriate Body Service offer, including pricing structure, and make recommendations for these to the Twyford Trust Executive Team and the Trust Board of Directors. S/He will be responsible for producing quality assurance standards and guidance, as well as monitoring procedures and arrangements for fidelity checks. This role will include providing training for schools and Induction Leads and undertaking on-site support to schools as necessary.
