We have an exciting opportunity for a Nursery Officer Grade 7 to work together with a Therapy Assistant Band 4 to jointly lead on a pilot project focussing on supporting private and voluntary (PVI) nursery settings in the timely identification and support of children with Speech Language and Communication Needs.

This is a 2-year fixed term post/secondment and would provide the opportunity to work with a range of PVIs across Ealing in areas of high deprivation.

**Main duties of the job**

You will work in close partnership with early years practitioners and parents/carers to provide support at a universal and targeted level for children with Speech Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) attending PVI’s within the borough. This exciting post will provide a varied opportunity to develop and deliver training in communication development, identification, and intervention for children with a range of communication needs.

As part of Ealing Services for Children with Additional Needs (ESCAN) the post will also involve regular collaborative working with other professionals.

You will be part of a forward-thinking department that provides a range of services and strives to be creative and evidenced based to improve children’s outcomes. This will be an ideal opportunity for a Nursery Officer looking to develop their skills in working with children with SLCN who also has values that align with those of our organisation and is passionate about making a difference to children and young people.

The post will sit within the newly expanded Early Start SEND & Inclusion team, which supports the early identification and intervention of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), seconded to the Ealing Early Years Speech and Language Therapy Department.

**About You**

You will have sound knowledge of child development, developmental milestones, and the Early Years Foundation Stage. Excellent communication skills will enable you to ensure effective teamwork and a successful relationship with practitioners, children, and young people.

You will have demonstrable knowledge and understanding of the principles of inclusion; government SEND reforms and legislation and the ability to inspire and motivate service providers and others to further develop inclusive practice.

These roles are customer-facing and as such you must have a command of spoken English which is sufficient to enable you to effectively perform the role. This requirement relates to Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016.
