**About the role**:
As a Skilled Train Maintainer (STM), you'll play a vital role within our TrainCare Centre's to carry out vital maintenance, fault finding and repairing of our trains. This includes servicing, fault finding, repair and overhaul of all traction and rolling stock, components and equipment to the approved standards, as laid down in the vehicle maintenance instructions, technical specifications and related working procedures.
- You will report to our Engineering Depot Supervisor’s and work alongside our maintenance team to keep our trains in service and fault find when things go wrong.
- It’s an exciting time to join our engineering team, as we are transforming and developing skillsets, to help us get the right people, on the right units, at the right time. You’ll need to work a range of shifts, from the early hours of the morning and including nights, plus weekends and Bank Holidays, it’s vital that you’re flexible and that you live within 60 minutes’ drive of our Allerton TrainCare Centre.

**Key responsibilities**:
This is a varied and challenging role, but here is a taste of what your day-to-day activities could include:

- Keeping our trains maintained to our high standards
- Keeping up to date on routine services for our trains, to ensure we are running a safe service
- Signing off to confirm that all your work has been completed correctly and accurately
- Prioritise your daily workload to ensure smooth and efficient running of our services
- Attend track calls, where necessary

**About you**:
We expect you to be qualified with a level 3 NVQ or a recognised apprenticeship and have the experience and practical ability of electrical and mechanical systems. We would also like to see a demonstration of your ability to successfully complete further competency training, as required. What’s really important is an ability to work as part of a team and to be able to think on your feet, in sometimes demanding situations.
