**EMSOU Internships - Join us on placement in 2023/24**

Would you relish the challenge of working for the policing unit that deals with some of the most serious, organised and violent criminals in the region?

The East Midlands Special Operations Unit (EMSOU) is offering an exciting opportunity for a Year in Industry (YII) placement to join us in our dynamic and fast-paced environment for a minimum of 10 months within the 2023/24 academic year. **Please be aware, you must be in your final year of study within your degree and this is for a placement within the communications department.**

EMSOU focuses on intelligence gathering and finding innovative ways to disrupt and investigate serious and organised crime, homicide and terrorism, on behalf of the five East Midlands police forces. We are also a national leader in the provision of forensic services for the region.

Our expertise and specialist capabilities are drawn upon by our five forces to tackle people, drugs and firearms trafficking, cyber crime, fraud and money laundering, prison corruption, murder and other serious assaults and violent extremism.

We are offering intern placements in the following area:
**Communications**

As an EMSOU Communications intern you will be expected to work well as part of a small team. You will have strong writing skills, with the ability to adapt your work to suit the target audience, and be adept in the use of social media, particularly Twitter. Ideally, although not essential, you will also have a basic understanding of media law, as well as some experience with digital cameras, and design and editing software, such as Microsoft Publisher, Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Premiere Pro. Above all, you will be enthusiastic in our aim of sharing news in an engaging way with our workforce, our policing colleagues, and the general public.
