Asset Performance undertake an essential role, ensuring Flood Risk Assets look and perform their best, and that Environment Agency owned assets are maintained to the required standard to ensure people and property are protected from flooding.
- By taking the right investment decision at the right time; and carrying out our risk based approach to maintenance and enforcement we are able to call upon our robust data and excellent knowledge of our assets. There is a requirement to work in partnership and maintain productive relationships with our own field teams, external contractors, risk management authorities, and partner regulators/advisors.
- You will play a key role in planning the maintenance of our flood risk assets and providing riparian owner advice to the public and professional partners alongside technical support internally,
- You will be working within a geographical patch alongside a geographical lead. Your enthusiasm and positive outlook will help you find solutions to deliver whole asset management. You will be supporting the whole life of a river system from the creation of new structures, through to maintenance, condition and public safety assessment and inspections and ongoing review of an asset’s performance, through to potential decommissioning or replacement.
- This is a varied role working closely with others to plan and deliver our routine maintenance programme, oversee defect reporting, undertaking data work, responding to enquiries and liaising with internal teams, contractors and local residents.
- The role includes a good mix of office/home based and site work. You will also be trained to deal with related incident response and you will fulfil an incident role.

The team
- The Upper Tribs Asset Performance team is responsible for the overall performance of our flood risk assets. We ensure all assets are inspected, maintained and operated in a safe, efficient and effective manner to ensure the safety of the public who use the local river networks and reduce flood risk for people and property. Our team comprises a mix of civil engineers, incident leads, asset inspectors, geographical leads and technical support.

Experience/skills required
- We're seeking a self-motivated individual who is eager to learn, ideally you will have an understanding of asset management or flood risk management.
- It’s important that you’re skilled at managing multiple priorities and competing demands. You will be an excellent communicator and must also understand the importance of teamwork and collaboration. Other key requirements for this role include proficiency in data and information management; undertaking work in accordance with health and safety and environmental regulations.
- Desirable- Formal qualifications or experience in civil engineering (e.g. CEng),
- project management experience (e.g. PRINCE2), or asset management (APM) etc
- Data and information management (e.g. GIS)
- Experience of current Construction (Design and Management) Regulations
