About the role

We have a rare opportunity for a Group Leader for our MOD West Freugh site.

As the Group Leader you will be responsible for leading safe delivery of all the activities conducted on the Range at MOD West Freugh.

QinetiQ operates this MOD test site that covers land, sea, and airspace areas. The range supports Military training, bombing, lasers, UAV testing and parachute drops.

What will I be doing?

As the Group Lead you will;
Work to meet the performance and growth objectives of M&L through the provision of competent resource, equipment and facilities.

The role is accountable for driving the safety, availability, efficiency and productivity of the site teams, ensuring safe and effective deployment of resources.

The post holder is responsible for working collaboratively with relevant business delivery teams and functions to fulfil the demand created by the project and sales functions.

Maintaining effective channels of communication and co-ordination on health, safety and environmental matters.

Conducting, and then maintaining, a risk assessment to determine the physical security requirements for the site.

Maintain a site Emergency Response Plan.

Ensure compliance with the MOD Property Licence, and DSA03

What do I need?

Key Capabilities/Knowledge

Leadership skills to enable successful teams and drive safe business delivery across all facilities at MOD West Freugh.

Ability to lead and manage within a matrix organisation; integrating and delivering best effect across the range.

Ability to quickly recognise and deliver interventions needed to drive change in the site teams

Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, able to engage with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.

Technical background and enquiring mind to enable interpretation and challenge as Providing Manager within the HAM process and to ensure compliance.

Detailed knowledge and experience of implementation of DSA03 requirements (desirable)

Experience & Qualifications

Proven leadership of teams, in a technical environment, delivering successfully and safely to customers, is essential.

Experience of working in a high hazard or highly regulated industry or role is highly desirable.

A technical, certificated education and/or experience in the domain is highly desirable.

The role is challenging, in terms of breadth and depth of responsibility, and the scale of geography. The individual needs resilience of character and maturity of judgement.
