**Rent and Income Finance Officer**

**Please note this vacancy is fixed-term for 9 months.**

Reporting to the Rent and Income Accountant, the Rent and Income Finance Officer will support the provision of a specialist and comprehensive rent setting and income accounting function to the Great Places Housing Group.

**PURPOSE OF ROLE**:KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- To ensure the accuracy of the data exchanged between the core housing and core financial systems;
- To assist the Rent and Income Accountant in the setting and monitoring of rent and other income;
- Production of the rent roll in line with agreed timetable;
- Produce weekly stock and rent reports for business use (retros);
- Prepare Oldham PFI payment weekly ensuring strict timeframes adhered to, thus avoid a fine;
- Updating of all rent calendars annually on Aareon Housing;
- To review, managed with the business and gain approval for all ground rent demands from freeholders and ensure prompt payment;
- Calculate and prepare all income related journals (accruals and deferrals) for the Customer Services Directorate;
- Prepare other routine journals to ensure the management accounts accurately report income and bad debt provision and the balance sheets accurately records assets and liabilities for each period;
- To assist in the annual budget and year end preparations, under the supervision of the Rent and Income Accountant;
- To compile the 'Other income' annual budget in line with budget holders, gain approval and following budget setting processes;
- To complete 'Other income' monthly management packs for the business; reviewing variances and resolving issues as required;
- To assist in the completion of 3rd party accounts;
- To assist in routine reporting under the supervision of the Rent and Income Accountant;
- To produce specified balance sheet account reconciliations on a monthly basis and ensure discrepancies are corrected;
- To process rent requests from Development team;
- To support the rent and income accountant on any rent queries received from the business;
- To provide financial support to project work and cross functional teams within the Group as required;
- To provide support to the service charge function where required;
- To provide cover for the Rent and Income Accountant and Service Charge team where required;

- To undertake appropriate training and staff development.
- To identify and develop individual contribution in the delivery of the Great Places competency framework

**QUALIFICATIONS & PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIPS**:

- Qualified to minimum GCSE grade C or equivalent in English and maths

**EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS**:

- Experience of working in a busy finance team
- Knowledge of rent setting within a regulated environment
- Proficient in excel and experience of manipulating large volumes of data for multiple uses
- Use of full range of Microsoft Office
- Ability to complete tasks in an accurate and timely manner when working under pressure
- Attention to detail
- Good written and verbal communication
- Effective liaison with staff/other stakeholders to give information/find information/resolve problems
- Organisation and ability to time-manage work load
- Able to deliver a high standard of customer service
- The ability to develop and project a positive image of Great Places through personal, written and oral skills
