Cardiac Physiologist

This role will involve the practitioner working within the team in a busy Cardiology department providing a range of complex cardiology investigations and producing detailed and evidence based clinical reports.The post holder will perform a range of invasive and non-invasive cardiac investigations according to grade and within scope of training.The post would suit a newly or recently qualified Cardiac Physiologist/PTP looking for a springboard to further their career. Ensuring a flexible and responsible service, which is based on an individualised approach to patients, respecting their privacy and dignity at all times.Act in accordance with Trust health and safety policy ensuring a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors. Report any untoward incidents as set out in the Trust policies and procedures. Participate in out of hours and weekend working as required to ensure safe and equitable service delivery to our patients.
Able to liaise closely with patients, including those with whom it may be difficult to communicate, and with their carers, explaining procedures and results as appropriate.
The post holder will be required to deal with some patients who are acutely unwell and /or distressed. Ensure that all patients are dealt with courteously and promptly whilst maintaining their comfort and dignity as much as is possible

The role of a Cardiac Physiologist is to provide a high quality, patient focused, efficient Cardio-respiratory Department at Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
Work in conjunction with the department manager and other staff to ensure the service needs are met.
To communicate as appropriate, with patients, staff and other concerned parties, to ensure best quality service delivery in terms of patient satisfaction, efficiency and effectiveness.
To maintain and develop the knowledge and skills necessary for the post and to deliver training to trainee and assistant staff allocated to your work area.

CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- 12 lead ECG escalating any significant abnormalities.
- Ambulatory long term ECG monitoring, fitting and analysis, creating detailed, complex reports and escalating any significant abnormalities.
- Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring and analysis, creating detailed reports for referring clinicians
Assist in physiologist led ETT involving recognising when additional support is required, analysing complex ECG’s and creating detailed reports with support from senior colleagues.
- Assist in Cath lab with diagnostic angiography
- Assist with Pacemaker Implantation procedures and Follow-up, creating detailed, factual documentation and reports with support from senior colleagues.
- Assist with ILR interrogation, creating factual, detailed reports, knowing when and how to escalate findings to senior colleagues, and providing patients with results and findings.
- Assist with Echocardiography procedures, performing and reporting under supervision.
